NERF - Action Xperience
Manchester, UK
Technically creative was tasked with creating arcade style interactive attractions for the Nerf Action Xperience that utilised immersive audio systems.
Attraction visitors could hone their Nerf skills using official branded equipment across two floors of engaging content designed and developed in-house by our gameplay designers and programmers. The installation consisted of two themed blaster zones containing a sub-game within each zone for additional points, 6 large scale interactive games on the top floor including an immersive triple display and 5 on the bottom floor with a speed reaction button press and an interactive mechanical basket ball game.
We developed the games in-house using our skilled engineers for physical games and digital professionals for video game content and animation. The lighting was also crucial to achieve an arcade style that fits the Brand.
A full Genelec audio over IP solution was employed to deliver soundscapes, background music and sound effects from the games. This created an immersive audio environment to captivate the guests.
Using our internally developed dart detection system we were able to create custom games that allowed visitors to fire Nerf darts at displays for target practice. Our triple projection interactive was particularly immersive and game a massive display area to captivate large groups of players. This was received really well and is incredibly fun to play.
Our team created engaging gameplay by Incorporating external input devices to interact with gameplay. This was developed in-house by our team of engineers, programmers and fabricators. The finished product is an incredibly fun balance board snowboarding experience.
As part of the interactive arcade games developed we created a transparent display game for opponents to compete head to head with another player on the opposite side of the glass. This helped incorporate a layer of competitiveness to the game allowing players to see their opponent whilst hitting the targets on screen. This was prototyped and tested in-house to create a game that is first of it’s kind.
Our Override game required teamwork for players to fill their corresponding team colour bar and override the opposing team. This would result in teams battling it out for victory.
